Housekeeping

Today I wish to take a moment to go over some of the FBA fundamentals, housekeeping if you will, to our membership association.

First, unless deemed a lifetime member, memberships are renewed annually.  The primary renewal platform is online via ClubExpress.  We realize this is not for everyone and offer a downloadable membership form on our website.  We also offer it if you email or call us with the request.  Send your request to becky@floridabicycle.net

Second, emails, forums, blogs, social media and our website serve as our main source to disseminate information to members and the public.  For example, if you’re a member and haven’t seen an email from us in the last three months, you may have a bad email or no email address on file.  Emails from FBA  may land in your ‘spam’ or ‘junk’ folder or you may have disabled “email notifications”.  If you’re not sure about the latter, send us an email and we will check.  It is important for Florida Bicycle Association to keep our members informed.  An update to our last Board of Directors quarterly meeting is scheduled to be sent to members, via email and placed on our membership website, within the week and we wish to make sure you receive it.

Finally, it has come to our attention that the quarterly Messenger newsletter may not be reaching all of our members.  If you haven’t received the Winter 2015 edition, please contact us.  You may also view the Messenger on line here.

Wow! That may have been the easiest housecleaning I have ever done.  Speaking of done,  if you haven’t done so already, please take a moment to consider who in Florida has been your cycling hero and nominate them for a 2014 FBA Annual Award.  The deadline for nominations is January 31 and awards will be presented during March Florida Bike Month and May National Bike Month.

Our Spin This positive bicycle initiative is a great way to let your community and elected officials know, if they don’t already, all the wonderful things cyclists are capable of doing.  It’s not just another form to fill out, it’s proof to the positive of cycling!

And what are Florida cyclists doing during March and May?  Don’t forget to submit your 2015 Bike Month event for either March or May.  We are in the process of collecting information and hope to have a separate web page by end of the month.

How will FBA bicycle shop member Acme Bicycle Shop honor Bike Month?

Thank you for supporting Florida Bicycle Association with your membership contributions and donations. Thank you in advance for your award nominations, positive spins and bike month event notifications.  Communications is a two-way street and FBA is always at the ready to listen to you.
