Bucs and bikes

Our Tuesday blog was delayed a day due to a special event.  The NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense, known as the D-Line, hosted their first “D-Line does Christmas” event back in 2012.  The success led to an annual event that provides hard-luck families a means to celebrate the holidays with gifts and surprises for their children.  The Bucs D-Line delivered Christmas yesterday evening at One Buc Place, their training facility, and the event provided for a nice holiday blog, one day late.

Since 2012, the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive, known as the “D-Line”, has hosted a holiday event for hard-luck families called “D-Line does Christmas”.  This year, Alert Today Florida joined in the event and assisted with helmet-fitting for the children who received new bicycles.

According to Ryan Tolley, Corporate Partnerships Development Manager for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 40 families with 71 children were invited to One Buc Place, the training facility for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for a tour of the facility as their ‘gift’.  The tour, however, turned into an evening of surprises led by Bucs defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and the rest of the Bucs D-Line, who met with the families in the cafeteria.

The surprises continued as the D-Line handed out Publix gift cards and toys in the training facility’s auditorium.  The D-Line then escorted the families to a breezeway where new bicycles and helmets were waiting.  The final surprise was announced after the helmets were fitted: a shopping spree at Target.

Enjoy the photos:

Editor’s note:  Congratulations to defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, who received his own holiday gift by being named to the 2016 Pro Bowl, the NFL’s all-star game.
