ACTION ALERT – FBA Funding in jeopardy

FBA needs your help!

House Bill 801 addresses specialty tags and amendment 598067 (Beshears) tweaks Share the Road plate:

On the Senate side, SB 7062 is the corresponding bill and amendment 702386 (Brandes) matches the House tweak:

THE AMENDMENTS REMOVE FLORIDA BICYCLE ASSOCIATION FROM ANY PROCEEDS GENERATED BY THE SHARE THE ROAD LICENSE PLATE.

The House amendment was adopted on January 28th.  The Senate amendment goes before the Senate Transportation committee tomorrow (Thursday, February 4) morning.  Please contact committee members and tell them to DROP the amendment, that you are against the amendment and that valuable FBA programming for bicycle safety education outreach will suffer without the tag proceeds.

Senate Transportation Committee:

Senator Brandes – https://www.flsenate.gov/senators/s22

Senator Evers – https://www.flsenate.gov/senators/s2

Senator Grimsley – https://www.flsenate.gov/senators/s21

Senator Simpson – https://www.flsenate.gov/senators/s18

Senator Bullard – https://www.flsenate.gov/senators/s39

Senator Braynon – https://www.flsenate.gov/senators/s36

Senator Thompson – https://www.flsenate.gov/senators/s12

FBA appreciates letting these Florida legislators know how you feel about the value that Share the Road tag proceeds give to Florida Bicycle Association programming.  Please contact Becky directly if you need help composing a letter/email.

On behalf of the Board of Directors and our Advisory Board, thank you.
