The SMART Ride
Today we are sharing information on the SMART Ride fundraiser:
The SMART Ride started in 2003 with a vision of giving back 100% of every dollar raised to AIDS service organizations throughout Florida. Since 2003, over $12.4 Million has been raised with 100% going to those infected, affected or at risk for HIV and AIDS in Florida.
SMART Ride is now the 2nd largest AIDS bicycle ride in the country, and the only one of its size to give back 100%.
Participants come from across the state and nationally – as far as Hawaii to as close as our neighboring state of Georgia; not to mention internationally. Last year, close to 10,000 people donated to the cause with riders and crew ranging in age from 18 to 73.
Our sponsors are independent/family-owned businesses, regional and national companies. Thanks to them, the SMART Ride provides a safe event with 100% of the money raised going back to the community.
SMART Ride is a fully-supported ride which includes sweep and SAG vehicles. Pit stops are located every 13-17 miles to allow participants to restock on snacks and rehydrate. Participants also receive overnight housing, meals, a medical team, massage team, bike parking team, etc.; all with the participant’s safety in mind.
